Microdermabrasion/Chemical Peels |
| |
Microdermabrasion is a procedure that can help improve sun-damaged skin,
facial scarring and acne. Tiny crystals are blasted onto the skin,
mixing gentle abrasion with suction to remove the stratum corneum (dead outermost surface
of the skin).
|
|
Microdermabrasion used for the treatment of acne must be repeated periodically
to be effective.
|
|
Microdermabrasion should not be used on patients who have taken the medication
Accutane (Isotretinion) in the previous twelve months. The procedure is not very painful
and requires no anesthetic. It takes about 20-30 minutes.
